Oregon CRNA License 2026: APRN Requirements, Independent Practice, Salary
Oregon is a full practice authority state for all APRNs including CRNAs. No physician supervision or collaborative agreement is required, and Oregon has opted out of the federal Medicare CRNA supervision requirement. However, Oregon is not an NLC compact member — CRNAs relocating to Oregon must obtain an Oregon RN license by endorsement before applying for the APRN credential, adding 4–8 weeks to the total licensure timeline.
Practice Model
- Full Practice Authority — no supervision or collaboration agreement required by state law
- Oregon has opted out of federal Medicare CRNA supervision requirement
- ACT model: Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center
- CRNA-independent model: most PeaceHealth, Providence Health, and rural community hospitals
- Eastern Oregon and rural coastal communities rely almost entirely on CRNA-only anesthesia
Application Requirements
- Oregon RN license (OR-issued; NLC compact licenses not valid — must apply by endorsement)
- Current NBCRNA certification
- Official nurse anesthesia program documentation
- Completed osbn.oregon.gov application + $85 fee
- Criminal background check
Processing Timeline
Plan 10–14 weeks total for out-of-state CRNAs: 4–8 weeks for Oregon RN endorsement, followed by 4–8 weeks for APRN credentialing. Temporary authorization to practice is not routinely available. Start the RN endorsement immediately upon accepting a position offer.

What We See at Ava Health
Oregon's non-compact status is the primary friction for CRNA relocation — plan 12+ weeks from offer to start date. Portland salaries are premium, though Portland's high housing costs and income taxes moderate real purchasing power. Bend is Oregon's fastest-growing CRNA market: rapid population growth, affluent resort community demographics, and a CRNA shortage that keeps compensation consistently above the state average. Rural Eastern Oregon (La Grande, Pendleton, Medford) has persistent CRNA demand with smaller signing bonuses than other rural states but strong quality-of-life appeal.
