Nevada has two distinct physician markets: Las Vegas (Clark County), which is one of the most understaffed major metros in the US relative to population, and Reno/Sparks (Washoe County), a smaller but growing market. Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners (NSBME) is an IMLC member. Nevada's physician shortage is acute — HRSA designates most of rural Nevada and significant parts of Clark County as Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).

IMLC vs Standard NSBME

What we see at Ava Health

Las Vegas is one of the most understaffed markets in the US — particularly for primary care, psychiatry, and EM. Clark County's rapid population growth has significantly outpaced physician supply growth. Compensation in Las Vegas is premium for most specialties, and locum rates are among the highest in the Southwest. Reno is a smaller but growing market with similar supply constraints. Rural NV (Elko, Winnemucca) offers significant premiums for primary care locums.
